More than just a zodiac sign, the scorpion is represented in many folklores and tales ranging from native American to African cultures.

This pendant has a real Arizona bark scorpion which appears to be running over a piece of bark carrying an amazingly clear piece of citrine. When chose this stone because of its color and closeness to the sun. After all, when you think of a scorpion you think of deserts.

This insect has been plated in copper through a process called electroforming. To create a strong and durable plate, it takes about 48 hours on a low current. This allows us to maintain the details for you to admire.

The pendant is less than 2 inches wide and 3 inches long. The chain is solid copper, 18-inches, cable style; it will darken with use however, it can be polished with a sunshine cloth if you prefer the shiny look.

A little background on the scorpion:

The Arizona bark scorpion is a small light brown scorpion common to the Sonoran Desert in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. An adult male can reach 8 cm in length, while a female is slightly smaller.

You might be surprised to discover that in nature the Scorpion is a good mother. She keeps the hatchlings on her back until after they molt the first time. This represents protecting the weakest of us from harm in a sometimes very harsh world.

Folklore and tales (Source: https://whatismyspiritanimal.com/):

A Native American story tells of a creature swimming across a river and Scorpion asking for a ride. The creature at first refuses, fearing the scorpion’s lethal sting. Scorpion uses his power of persuasion explaining that they would both drown if he used his stinger. The creature agreed to the ride, and halfway to their destination, the scorpion stung him. When asked why the Scorpion explains, “it is simply my nature.” In this tale, we’re reminded that the world of animal symbolism cannot completely escape the natural order of things.

The ancient Egyptians revered the Scorpion Spirit as a potent guardian for souls moving from one world to the next. It was a sacred creature to Selket, the goddess who heals stings, and bites. It was not uncommon for the Priests to use images of Scorpions on ritual mummification tools to safeguard the precious transforming spirit within. That endows Scorpion with the power of change, particularly in terms of our soul’s growth through various incarnations.

African stories likewise tie the Scorpion to death and life. Some people believed that a Scorpion sting had the power to heal, and they honored the Scorpion accordingly. From a shamanic vantage point, Scorpion as a spirit guide created a change in consciousness, the sting acting like a psychedelic mind-altering drug that, when used, takes the shaman to the dream time or other spirit realms.

This pendant is certainly a conversation starter. It’s perfect for those born in November, male, or female.

All items arrive in a cute little box ready for gift-giving.

To maintain the shine or antiquing:

Keep your copper jewelry clean. Store it in an airtight container or bag away from heat and moisture.

Wipe regularly with a polishing cloth to prevent dirt build-up.

Use tarnish-resistant products (such as tarnish tabs or strips) that absorb harmful chemicals. We use the tabs below and now include (2 - 4) tabs with copper and sterling silver purchases.

Additional Information:

PLEASE NOTE: When copper comes in contact with human skin and can interact with air, perspiration and other chemicals, such as bath soaps, body lotions, and makeup, and  sunscreen, the oxidation (patina) process can accelerate and that causes the copper to turn brownish, green or bluish-green, and stain the skin of some individuals. This reaction will vary according to an individual's body chemistry, both in how long it takes for the green discoloration to form and in how pronounced the color becomes .Some people, such as myself, experience no discoloration at all, other people maybe not so much. It is important to note that the discoloration is not harmful to your health, nor is it anywhere near permanent and is easily washed off with soap and water. If not washed off, it is normally absorbed by the body overnight.  Because this potential reaction is not to be unexpected by customers, we do not offer Refunds if the reason is "Because It turns my skin green."

IMPORTANT: Sterling silver is an alloy containing metals that react with chemicals found in air and produces tarnish; high moisture levels, exposure to sunlight and contaminants such as salt water increase this reaction. Take steps to protect your sterling silver by:
Keep sterling silver in airtight packages, (Ziplocs should work fine) Use tarnish-resistant products (such as tarnish tabs or strips) that absorb harmful chemicals. We use the tabs below and now include (2 - 4) tabs with copper and sterling silver purchases.
Store metals in a cool, dry place. Most tarnish is easily removed by polishing with a mild abrasive or soaking in an anti-tarnish solution.

Size:  Some items are available in various sizes by request.

Stones: Are true raw gemstones. Material: Raw gemstones, pure copper base Rings have been burnished, antiqued and sealed to protect the finish*. Each rendition ordered (gemstone shape/size) will have some differences in general shape and dimensions and depending on stone type, some small color variations.  The ring shank will be as pictured. What The!

From Start To Finish

Some artisans will rely solely on molds and prefabricated items from foriegn countries... I guess everybody does from time to time. However, we rely more on our ability to create and manufacture most of our jewelry from scratch by our own beat up hands. Takes longer but the quality you can depend on. Oh, we don't actually kill these bugs. That we do but from someone else.

Keeping it real
