Damselfly Copper Pendant with Chrysocolla Cabochon | Tinklet Jewelry
These little insects are a work of art captured in a copper pendant. The process, electroforming serves to enhance the details in the wings on the body. We try to capture some of the natural settings so that it's life-like.
These little insects are fun to watch as they bounce and land on everything. If you love nature I’m sure you’ve found yourself marveled by these little guys. We love to work with organics because we love the preservation aspect of the work. It’s one of the ways you can look at, pick up, and admire the beauty around you keeping a little piece of it with you forever.
Did you know that dragonflies and damselflies aren’t the same? They aren’t even related. Damselflies are slender and sleeker. They have widely separated eyes while dragonflies have eyes on the top of their heads. When not in flight, damselflies usually hold their wings up over their backs. Dragonflies hold their wings open and to the side.
This damselfly is posed on a real branch and has a gorgeous Chrysocolla cabochon. The chain is handmade as well from 18-gauge wire; each link carefully made to match the other, a combination of swirls and twirls. Every attention to detailed is honored to show off this gorgeous little insect.
Chrysocolla is an alluring, vivid blue-green color that is often mistaken for turquoise. The rich, vibrant blue and green colors of chrysocolla are reminiscent of looking down upon the earth's surface from space. Its main role is to soothe, calm, and inspire. Its color alone is soothing with a deep blue-green which might remind you of a distant mountaintop or the stillness at the bottom of the sea.
Chrysocolla is associated with tranquility, peace, intuition, patience, and unconditional love. It is known as a healing stone among Native American cultures where it has been used to strengthen the body's resistance to illness and emotional duress.
Nature lovers, does this piece speak to you? If so, don't hesitate. We do have a few other options, but each design is unique. It all depends on the insect, the mood, the feel at the time its created. Each one is unique and even when we try to replicate it …it's never the same.
