Small Ankh Mixed Metal Pendant Charm | Tinklet Jewelry
This is a simple, small silver and copper ankh pendant charm. It’s a dainty piece that can be worn on a chain as shown here or put on a bangle as a charm.
Hand cut from sterling, the pendant is reversible. On one side the horizontal copper bar goes all the way across. On the opposite side the length of the hoop and vertical bar are silver.
The pendant is an inch long and the silver plated chain measures 20 inches.
The ankh is an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol that was used in writing and Egyptian art to represent the word for “life”. Others say the root meaning is spirit. The ankh became known as the African Cross of Life and the most sacred symbol of Ancient Egyptian religion. The hoop represents the sun, the horizontal bar represents the horizon and the vertical bar of the cross representing the path of the sun. It was used in many way, more specifically it symbolized physical life on Earth, eternal life in heaven, immortality and even reincarnation.
